Slice O' Life

 Hello fellow Otakus,

Today I want to talk about those manga and anime stories who dabble in the mundane routine of life's daily struggles. Yes , just as the title of the article say's , the "Slice O' Life " anime and manga stories are popular with all kinds of Otakus. Fruits Basket, My Life as a House Husband ,To Re Do Ra Da and  countless other titles. Though often based on realistic fiction, some stories can get quite "out there" (unrealistic) with their plots and the actions of the characters . For instance , in "My Life as a House Husband" the main character offers to cut off his finger to apologize to his wife for purchasing a box set of anime that she already had ". Hilarious? yes, but lets imagine that there was a reality based slice of life story that was in Japan using real actors . How would this look. Would you be interested?

The answer to those Questions: "Midnight Diner", its a Slice of Life Comedy with real actors on Netflix. The short stories center around a Master Chef who only opens his diner door at 12:00am until the next morning. The characters come and go each with a unique story : a Yakuza with a kind heart , a Singer following her Dreams , some funny old retired dudes and middle age high school buddies who reunite. This 2 season Subtitled series is just like watching an anime or reading a manga book . Lots of the scenes and dialogue reminded me of Studio Ghibli movies.

Soo if you do find yourself relaxing on a "nothing to do" or rainy day, try watching one of the episodes of Midnight Diner , you will be hooked. The episodes are short and you will find your self binge watching them.

P.S. 

Each episode has a delicious recipe for a Japanese Dish: Curry Ramen, Sweet Egg Omelet , Cat Rice (to name a few) then at the end of each episode the chef shows how he makes the dish associated with that episode! Neat Huh!?

Anime Girlfights 💞

 Hello Otakus with everything going on I'm sure you all have had time to catch up on your favorite animes I just want to make you aware of a couple things that are going on to start I want to talk let you know Alita has came out for HBO Go this movie is a really cool CGI based movie based on an anime movie c

out about 10-15 years ago it was a two-part series titled Alita Battle Angel of if you haven't ever seen it before definitely definitely check it out you can probably find it free online or an anime streaming website. 

Also the Kandahar Jet girls  video game for Playstation 4 and some other platforms in 2021 is a really cool racing anime if  you've not seen that yet it's really cool and the video game follows the anime so definitely check that out as well.

STAR WARS fans have soo many venues to choose from these days : On TV there is Disney+ 's Mandalorian, In Comic's you can read the untold stories of  Darth Vader , at the Movies you can see The Last Jedi but what about ANIME! Could there be a Star Wars Anime in our mist. We wish! To be perfectly honest it may never be a reality.

You may have seen the fan clips of "Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures" on YouTube with editing to make it look like anime but

I has been awhile since our last post here at Jump84. So much changes in a year , especially this one; its hard to keep up.

alone time in 2020 due to mandatory Quarantine: Since every one is staying home, Now would be a good time to catch up on all your favorite anime series and maybe even discover some new titles to marathon!

REVISIONS!

Hello anime fans ,

Just found a new anime on Netflix ; "Revisions". Its action packed with a touch of horror and gore .  4 high school students with a troubled past find the meaning of a past mystery . As children they encounter a strange woman named Mio who tells each of the children a prophecy . Their impending doom is realize many years later as sophomore teenagers. The Children's whole city is removed from Japan and some how planted in a future where there is total war! Strange Beast (built with futuristic tech and a " Talking Squirrel with Pink eyes, a Hat and a Bow tie?") seek to destroy human life and attack the city . It is up the these four children, Mio, and the local police department/government to defend and return the city to the correct timeline.

Lots of Action , funny moments; brace yourself for some intense and bloody events.

Durarararoro!!?

Dororo 2019

Hyakkimaru and Dororo 2019 version of "Dororo"

Dororo is on a quest to find her brother Hyakkimaru, along the way she meets with all sorts of characters who fill in the missing pieces of their life story. She learns of her father's betrayal and defeat after he and his band of warriors were used as "cannon fodder" by the samurai he served under.  The former band of warriors seek a treasure of great power hidden away with the only clue being a map tattooed on Dororo's back. 

His bother Hyakkimaru a tormented and deformed soul, faces his own demons quite literally with only prosthetic body parts and a sword for an arm . 

Beside the basic story line there are some really dark moments for our heroes, flash backs of death and decay, betrayal and deceit , buried treasure and man-eating sharks all wonderfully animated and quite gory. I love these dark feudal japan type anime they're always the best in my opinion; Not sure if a guy with a sword for an arm was edgy back in 1960's Japan but sure impressed me! . I'm guessing all the blood spatter was not in the original....(See Below)

P.S. Opening credits scenes show motorcycles and a logo for anime creators "MAPPA" as far as I can tell there is no correlation to the anime of a suspiciously similar name "Dorarara!!".

Dragon Ball Z Super / Broly

Dragon Ball Z Super has certainly not disappointed fans with new story arcs, animation and new powers for our favorite Super Saiyan heroes. Now, the 3rd Tatsuya Nagamine film : Dragon Ball Z Super / Broly has proved to be the Biggest DBZ box office hit ever! 

Fired up after the Tournament of Power, Goku seeks to increase his knowledge and powers even further.  Goku and Vegeta meet Broly a powerful member of the Saiyan Race who learns as he fights and displays incredible powers of energy growth that seems limitless.

P.S. Ever notice all the characters have Vegetables names? I went to the store and got some "Piccolos" and "Bro"cly now I need to put them "Vegeta"bles in the "Frezza"!
