Missing Link was a BIG Disappointment

Missing Link is a stop motion animation by Laika animation. You may know Laika from their previous movies : Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings.

After several flops at the box office, You may wonder how they can continue.

Things are NOT looking up for them. It has been a struggle for them in the past and now sales in theaters have been (not surprisingly) so low for their 5th Movie installment there may not be a 6th. 

Sad to Say:

This movie does not have any real meaningful story line at all. All the Characters are Self Centered and Cruel , not even in a redeemable way. 

Hugh Jackman's character (Sir Lionel Frost ) pretends to be interested in his "best friend's" Widow (Adelina Fortnight) when really he just wants to  steal map from her home. He finally succeeds. 

Later, after a "stern talking to" and time out in the "Yeti Jail " , Sir Lionel pronounces that he has become an "Evolved Man". 

Zoe Saldana's Character ( Adelina Fortnight ) Tries to murder Sir Lionel Frost but then happily tags along after finding out she not the only one who wants to kill him. They seemingly connect and fall in love but in the end she suppresses all desires for Sir Lionel and ditches Lover, Bigfoot and all other Interest for no good or apparent reason. See ya!

And Mr. Link (voiced by Zack Galifianakis)... AKA Sasquatch.... AKA Susan,  does finally find the family he was looking for all along however, the "Yeti" want nothing to do with him, call him a redneck and then throw him out! Mr. Link's response: "Pffftf! You have a funny accent anyway!"

 This movie is rated PG though I DO NOT recommend letting children watch it : my 4 year old nephew gagged at what they were eating (All Too Realistic Yak Guts) with the Sherpa in Tibet. To advert further Crisis , I had to tell my nephew that the cow chips Mr. Link was happily munching on were actually chocolate cookies that way he wouldn't totally vomit. Also, his 6 yo brother cried at the end because "The bad Guys" ,Who's names are not even worth mentioning, fall too their doom but not before the "cowboy dude" gets a sharp ice-spear to the gut! The END...... The end? Where's the part where we see the bad guys are okay because they just fell in some water and then they get captured and put in jail or whatever? After Credits maybe ....NOPE

COME ON LAIKA! YOU ACT LIKE YOU NEVER MADE A KID MOVIE BEFORE!

P.S.
Ok, I will admit , this movie had it's moments , some OK humor and at least one or two good action scenes, beautiful scenery shots and at times it was hard for me to determine if I was really Watching Stop Motion or some glossed up form of CGI ; especially the Logging town in Washington and Mountains in Tibet. Really, the Animation and land spaces were the best I've seen. Kudos to the Animation Teams!
